On March 22, 2025, Glendhu Bay transformed into a vibrant celebration of Central Otago’s culinary and cultural excellence as the Ripe – Wānaka Wine and Food Festival returned for its fourth year. With a sold-out crowd of 4,000 attendees, the festival solidified its reputation as a premier event in New Zealand’s food and wine calendar.
A Showcase of Central Otago’s Best
Ripe 2025 featured an impressive lineup of over 25 wineries, including renowned names like Quartz Reef, Valli, Maude, and boutique producers such as Carrick, Mount Michael, and Akarua. Attendees indulged in a diverse array of wines, from the region’s signature Pinot Noirs to crisp Chardonnays and aromatic whites.
Complementing the wine offerings were over 15 food vendors presenting a rich tapestry of flavors. Festival-goers savored everything from the smoky delights of Old Mates Smokehouse to the innovative fusion of Matsui Sushi and the authentic Hungarian flavors of Liam’s Langos. The Artisan Kitchen and The Stoaker Room also impressed with their gourmet creations, highlighting the region’s commitment to quality and sustainability.

The musical lineup was headlined by Kiwi indy rock/pop sensation Ladyhawke, whose energetic performance had the crowd dancing against the stunning backdrop of Lake Wānaka. She was joined by the dynamic sounds of Black Comet, the soulful melodies of Jaz Paterson, and the classic bangers of The Beatgirls, ensuring a day for the ages.

Elevated Experiences and New Additions
Ripe 2025 introduced several enhancements to elevate the festival experience:
Wine Walk Series: An intimate journey through curated tastings, allowing attendees to engage directly with winemakers and learn about their craft
Expanded Brews x Views: Rhyme x Reason Brewing returned with an enlarged setup, ensuring shorter queues and a broader selection of craft beers to enjoy under the sun.
- Glendhu Social Club Co-lab: Scapegrace cocktail enthusiasts delighted in handcrafted beverages made with Scapegrace’s artisan spirits. George Fm providing a second music zone, a relaxed atmosphere with chilled beats….the place to be!
